MOOF Magazine presents: A Celebration of Global Underground Psychedelia
16th April at New River Studios with live music from:

MERMAID CHUNKY (UK)

Heading the thriving DIY music scene of “New Weird Britain”, Stroud’s Mermaid Chunky are an audio visual duo made up of artists Freya Tate and Moina Moin. Bathing in milkmaid serenity and improvised chaos, the duo boast of pumping trance rhythms, sad Easter time chicks and arousing sax solos. Catching their live performances may cause havoc on your retinas as they are often accompanied by euphoric sculptural visuals and an entourage of sweating puppy’s in frills.

BARBICAN ESTATE (JPN)

Emerging from Tokyo’s underground music scene in 2019, Barbican Estate consists of Kazuki Toneri (Gt, Sitar), Miri (Ba, Vo), and Koh Hamada (Dr, Percussion). They released their debut album Way Down East in 2021. The band’s influences include Japanese psychedelic/noise rock, US experimental bands, classic film, as well as literary and architectural movements. Using drones, psychedelic soundscapes, driving rhythms, and vivid lyricism to create their massive sound, take it from us, this rising trio are ones to watch.

A FULL COSMIC SOUND (CHILE) W/ LITTLE GEM BAND (IE)

Formed in 2007, South American psychedelic collective A Full Cosmic Sound explore connections through instrumental improvisation and repetition, evoking the ambient passages of Popol Vuh, the psychological sound explorations of Throbbing Gristle and the echoes of the busy urban sound landscape research in Chile. For this MOOF show they will be collaborating with Dublin DIY collective Little Gem Band on a one-off psychedelic spontaneous composition.#

+ MOOF DJs, DIY Badge Making, a chance to pick up the brand new issue of MOOF & Liquid Light Show
