MOOF Magazine are delighted to premiere the brand new single “Nothing Will Change” by London trio Great Silkie, from their forthcoming album Dawn Chorus due for release 9th August 2021 via Crocodile Laboratories.

Great Silkie consists of Sam Davies on vocals and guitar (and some Fender Rhodes),
Andrew Saunders on bass guitar and harmonies, and Charlie Salvidge on drums and
harmonies.

Back in 2019 we had the pleasure of premiering their single “I Don’t Know How To Say I Love You (These Days)”. Since then the band have flourished, audibly more self-assured Great Silkie are triumphantly carving out a signature sound like no other current outfit – a coalescence of wistful folk rock and early 70s pop ballads, pulled together with a distinctively modern feel.

On the making of the album Sam Davies explains:

The album was recorded over a three week period. At Vacant TV studios onto 24 track tape machine. Just like our first two singles before. The only difference from before being; generally my confidence as a singer / writer and the time we had to spend on each song. It would start with the three of us doing around three or four takes until we had the best base to work from. Then I would track second guitar, possibly piano and lead vocal. After which we would get to the most fun and my favourite part. All three of us would sing backing vocals together live, then would change and sing each others harmony. This was to save on used tracks and also give a fuller sound… In other words Beach Boys Style.”

The single will be available on all digital platforms from June 10th.
