Jacken Elswyth:
Jacken Elswyth is a London-based folk musician, banjo player, and instrument builder. In her music making she is focused on exploring traditional tunes, developing extrapolations on folk styles and techniques, and investigating drone, ambience, and improvisation within and beyond folk music. She organises the Betwixt & Between tape series as one avenue of these investigations, and compiles occasional live Almagest mixes as another. She plays and records solo and in collaboration – with Shovel Dance Collective, Sullow, and others.
“Her sounds are regularly beautiful and raw, augmented by scratches, tension and twang.” – The Guardian
Jules Smith:
One fifth of South East London psychedelic bossa nova band Baby Vanga, Jules Smith has recently embarked on a solo venture, inspired by greats such as Bert Jansch, Margo Guryan and Circulus. The resulting sound is a glorious amalgamation of acid funk, psych and sunshine pop. His latest single on Strong Island Recordings, “End of a Season” is a whimsical stream-of-consciousness springtime trip. On this date Jules will be joined by a full band.
“Jules Smith’s minimalist approach to the pastoral flute-laden freakout of psychedelia and acid-folk meets baroque pop feels like a joyous portal trip into a sun-kissed enchanted forest wonderland.” – It’s Psychedelic Baby
MOOF DJs
DJs Vadim Kosmos (Black Glove) and Melanie Xulu (MOOF/Soho Radio) will be spinning underground psych, folk and weird disco til late!
