Join MOOF Magazine on the night of the October full moon night for a spooky soiree with live music from: 

BOBBIE WATSON + JON SEAGROATT (COMUS)

Bobbie Watson is probably best known as the vocalist of legendary dark-folk uber-lords, Comus. She has cast her vapour-trails of spine-tingling vocals throughout all of Comus’ recordings, from ‘Diana’ (1971), through the classic ‘First Utterance’, to the latter-day ‘Out of the Coma’ (2012).  Jon Seagroatt is a multi-instrumentalist, composer and producer. In 2007 he joined Bobbie in the newly reformed Comus, as the only non-original member. Both Bobbie and Jon have recorded and toured with Current 93, and earlier this year, with an ensemble of leading avant-folk musicians which Jon directed, they performed the soundtrack of ‘The Wicker Man’ live at the Barbican.

At this MOOF special, they’ll be performing a set of material drawn from two of their albums, ‘Mortal Tongues’ and ‘Yearn’, which will include re-imaginings of two Comus songs, ‘The Herald’, and ‘In The Lost Queen’s Eyes’. 

SPIRAL GALAXY
Flutist Sara Gossett and treated machines manipulator Plastic Crimewave create devotional sonic voyages and droney soundscapes with the occasional rhythmic pulse to conjure the kosmische vibe of 70s German seekers like Yatha Sidhra, Popul Vuh, Achim Reichel, and early Kraftwerk. The ghost of NY synth-punks Suicide also lurks in the background, as well as the wall-of-sound miasma of 90s UK “shoegaze”. Their first album on Cardinal Fuzz/Lion records features special guests Jean-Herve Peron of Faust, Kawabata Makoto of Acid Mothers Temple, Alisha Sufit of Magic Carpet, and guitar wunderkind Ryley Walker. 

ROSE IO 

Founding member and songwriter for band Rokurokubi, Rose io is now performing as a solo artist, continuing to enchant audiences with jewel-like musical poetry and storytelling. Her songs are a mixture of the macabre, surreal and childlike, in the footsteps of outsider musicians such as Syd Barrett, Ivor Cutler and the Space Lady.
